Monday Poetry 4.21.25 Another Day on Earth with You

Where I am

It is difficult

To feel anything.

Though I sense your presence

In the cricket’s grassy song

The Morse code of the firefly.

The seasons are changing

I can feel it

In the soles of my feet.

Remember when we lived

On only the air between us?

I am sorry

I have not been breathing lately.

Another day

With nothing scratched off my to-do list.

Where do we go from here?

If I look directly at you

I will burn my eyes,

Yet still I yearn

To fall to the Earth with you

Our roots tangled together.
